Water Bill Check-Off is Born:
In the 84th Legislative Session, the Houston Northwest Chamber was able to work with State Rep. Patricia Harless and Senator Lois Kolkhorst to pass HB 2528, a bill that was signed into law by the Governor. This law allows utility districts in Harris County to receive donations through customers’ water bills to help support local non-profit economic development projects. This law recognizes the challenge our community faces in funding needed basic community development. We hope each and every member of the community recognizes this opportunity to positively impact our property values and the desirability of our community to businesses and families looking to locate here.
